Thanks for the tip.

The first track was definitely an outside the head experience - thought it was playing though my speakers and had to check that my headphones were there.

Wow!

Yeah, the first track was easily the most impressive.

The occasional clipping is a bit of a shame, but overall, I think it's a great listen.

Wow, you guys weren't lying. That first track is REALLY an out of head experience. I was actually spinning around trying to catch where it was coming from haha. Good stuff.

Now to finish the rest of the CD.

Edit:

Both ocean/beach tracks were phenomenal as well. Especially the first one; gave me goosebumps. I could really listen to that all day.

Overall, a great CD (there was some distortion on 3-4 of the tracks) and an even better listen. It's experiences like these that remind me why I'm here.

Anyone have anything else like this?

What a fantastic 3 year bump!

Bump! Anyone want to share the CD?

A torrent of the CD can be found here: http://thepiratebay.sx/torrent/6768973/Ultrasone_Reference_CD_FLAC

The CD is in FLAC and you need a client such as utorrent http://www.utorrent.com to download it. There is no tagging of the tracks, they're just listed "track 01, track 02" and so on, but a list of the tracks can be found on page 4 of this thread.

Not sure about the legality of torrents, hope this doesn't warrant a ban or anything...just trying to help.

All this is just the ULTRASONE CD, which comes with all their headphones?
If so, then I have the original copy of it. Played a bit of it when I received my headphones, it surely sounded wonderful but I was not really into those sounds and decided to just listen to my own music instead. The fact that I decided to skip all this 'random' music, when all you 'pros' and 'enthusiasts' appreciate it so much, just shows how much of a noob I am.

Is there any sort of guide to follow as to what to listen for in each track of the Ultrasone CD? And is the CD only meant for auditioning  headphones?

Hi,
I realize that this is a very old thread, but I have tried every link posted and find none that still work. Does anyone that is still around have any information on a current working link for a download of the CD?

Thanks!

Most of those download sites were shutdown due to piracy claims.

The Ultrasone Benchmark CD is interesting at first impression, but not the most helpful in demontrating the strengths and weaknesses of your headphones. It doesn't provide any context about the tracks; such as what to listen for, or what does this track reveals about your headphones. etc.
For that reason I recommend other discs such as the David Chesky Ultimate Headphone Demontration Disc
http://www.chesky.com/album/ultimate-headphone-demonstration-disc-jd361
Not only does it use more upto date technologies in binural records, but each track has context in relation to your headphones.

I will agree here. I have a downloaded copy. This cd has turned into a legend because of its scarcity. But it's really not that great. There are much better recordings to play with now.

Thanks for that !  do have the Chesky  disk and use it quite a bit when testing headphones. I read all of the raves on the Ultrasone disk and just thought I would try to track it down. I was particularly looking for binaural material to try out.I will check out that first link you posted as well. I appreciate the reply.

None of those torrents have been active in years.  Are you sure of this? Do you have a Drop Box or similar account that you could share it from?
