the Pink Floyd albums has really caught me by surprise.
Ive most of the albums on CD from years ago, but I've been smitten by Spotify of late and was excited to discover PF releasing the back catalogue to Spotify.
Upon listening to The Wall 2011 remix, I was blown away by the difference. On "The wall pt2" I'd never really noticed the chugging guitar on the start. This reaction is the same for most of the album. The difference. is night and day. Ditto with the other remastered PF albums on Spotify.

Now, I always thought PF were to of the league for mastering etc, so am very surprised at the change the remastering has done.

What's going on?

Is modern mastering so much better?
If so, why? What's changed?
Or, were the old PF masters actually poor?
Is modern remastering significantly better than what has preceded ? (eg, would revisiting old remastered classics again be of benefit)

Has me wondering what modern remastering would offer to old classics
