anyone else as disgusted as I am over the sonnen/silva fight? just awful...i am done buying UFC fights. I have been let down way too many times lately. On another note, the Strikeforce the other night was great. The main event was a 5 round war! Non-stop action! I enjoyed seeing Marquart KO Woodley also! Woodley seems like a good kid but he never impressed me. Woodley usually just wrestle f**ks his opponents, gets tired and then lays on them.

Who buys UFC fights anymore?
I didn't like the fight, but it is what it is. I wouldn't mind hearing from Chael about how it went and what happen from his perspective. Any interviews out there?

yes,Chael is a weak one still, anyway no one at the moment is able to put Anderson Silva in hazardous situation.
Nonetheless i found the fight boring too,i already started do doubt about the integrity of the whole fight itself...

It was boring because Chael Sonnen was trying to take Silva down the whole time. It was not interesting to watch. When he got his take down, the fight went even more boring ( the whole first round).
It was exciting for a few seconds when he was knocked out.
I like watching stand-up wars instead of two guys rolling around on the floor.

In Sonnen's case, going for the take downs and ground n pounding was his only chance to beat Silva. He almost beat him last time that way, but obviously Silva was prepared. I agree though, the fights are getting more boring especially since there's no competition for Silva unless he moves up to fight Jones.
Most people prefer a stand up fight that have no background in wrestling or Jiu Jitsu, but I like a good technical ground battle as much as striking when both fighters are matched well.

What was so bad about that fight? I think it was a good representation of the Silva dilemma. The guy is just so damn talented and good a fighter, that if you make the slightest mistake he will knock you out. The problem with Chaels approach is that he was gunning for a strategy that he had to execute perfectly for 25 minutes. He couldn't do that, hence the loss. I'm also a bit puzzled that it got that far in the first fight. Chael is a good fighter, no questions about that, but in order to beat Anderson you need to finish him or be better on the feet. Every minute of not finishing him off is a minute extra for him to knock you out, which was exactly what Chael showed us. If you want to win against Anderson by wrestling and ground and pounding, you need to execute it perfectly for the whole fight. Chael couldn't, and I don't think many can.
Palhares could present some interesting problems, but his reach is too short.
Jones could present problems, but they won't fight.
GSP could present problems, since he could actually follow through a Chael plan all the way, but he's essentially too small.
The real way to beat Anderson is not by grinding. It is by finishing him.

When Chael fell down and Silva was calmly walking towards him, you almost knew that this was it. His chance was overwith, it was finito. Over. Silva was kind of like "Now... It's time...".
The thing about Chael is that he's ot a bad fighter at all. Clearly his strategies work when it's against lesser opponents. Plus, he's pretty good standing up. It's just that, some fighters are lethal finishers. Some aren't. Silva is. Chael isn't.

Or you can be gutsy like Ryo Chonan and do a flying heel hook and sub him after taking a beating all 3 rounds in pride. lol

And where do you get that piece of enlightenment from since the best fighters in the world have not been able to finish him? Do you have a secret source of knowledge on that?

Only guys to finish the spider were Ryo Chonan and Daiju Takasi via submission. I don't know many guys that were able to stand with Anderson. Only standing game he lost was his debut pro boxing match via KO.

I find a good ground game match with multiple submission attempts much more interesting now that I understand what each type of submission requires. I did go into watching MMA expecting the brawl, which are interesting, but technical BJJ fights and technically sound stand up involving good boxing/kickboxing is what I've learned to enjoy.
