An exceptionally well recorded piece of "classical" music with some of the best dynamic range I've EVER heard is:

Nobuo Uematsu and Shiro Hamaguchi - Final Fantasy Concert

Believe it or not... Don't knock it till you try it.

I spent some time last week in some various Indian Reservations (for those that do know, AZ has the most natural land dedicated to Native American/Indian Reservations)
...down near the Table Mesa's...first,second, and third Mesa...beautiful, and very interesting culture..in the town of Old Oraibi,( which is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement in the US lower 48, and was founded about 1050 AD )
We had the priveledge of meeting a 20th generation Hopi that played some music for us, and allowed me to purchase his CD...

It is Native Chanting and features he and his wife playing the Hopi equiv to Moracas and features Drums, Flute, Percussion, everything is played by he and his wife.....and the sound is outstanding... I even complimented him when saying, that the CD did not sound or even look burned, but rather was pressed and so therefore studio produced, and it was professionally produced..Unfortunately it does not have a name, and the artwork is hand drawn on the cover (not in a catalog or online)

Is the best Native Chanting/Native American music I have ever heard...period.
(And I have hundreds of tapes, CD's, and 8 tracks with Native music, song, and chant among my vast collection... but none come close to the quality, and sound dynamics on this CD
W*O*W (He was nice enough to sign the cover too)

Anyway, this guy travels all over the world, and is coming to Indianapolis in a few months if anyone is interested!!

Great CD...Flippin' awesome rather
I said "Qua-Qua" in return, which is the Hopi expression for Thank You..

Evgeny Kissin & James Levine: The Carnegie Hall Concert

A true masterpiece, both in terms of recording quality and the playing itself.

The last time I posted in this thread was a long time ago, so here are some new ones, some repeats:

The Who - Quadrophenia (their best work, in my opinion)

Virgil Fox - The Command Performances (Volume IV of the Legacy Series)
(This CD is worth it just for the Passacaglia and Fugue in Cm. Amazing performance, period.)

Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory (duh)

Frederick Swann - Hymns on the Crystal Cathedral Organ (what can I say? I can't recommend this CD enough)

Huey Lewis and The News - Four Chords and Several Years Ago
(This CD is all covers, but still absolutely amazing, and plus, it's well-recorded)
