That's funny. I vacuum with hearing protection. Not because I'm concerned about the threat of hearing damage but because I can't stand the sound of the (expletive deleted) thing. Ranks right up there with weedeaters, lawn mowers leaf blowers and dirt bikes on my scale of intolerable racket.

Probably good for my hearing.

Headphone amp's usually is set at about 9:00.

my perreaux is still just under 8 and thats with the 12 db attenuators... i can't imagine pure silence... that would be so cool...

Someone here once suggested (sorry I don't remember who) that you start listening with your volume lower than usual for first 10-15 mins, then after your ears have adjusted go back to your normal listening level. You may find what you're looking for with less risk, it works fairly well for me.
