Just bought a Sony CDP-203 CD player and a Sony SR-AV460 receiver off craigslist for $25 a pop. What a great move, they match up well with my $30 Jensen early '90's speakers. If this were 1992 I would have a nice stereo system lol.

A whole setup for $80, and the speakers sound great, and the headphone out of the receiver blew me away the first time I heard it

. Should advocate this more to youngins like me who don't the cash to spend.

Anyone else enjoying a stereo system that is almost as old as they are?

I wish I could find a deal like that around here. I really need a nice CD player. But I think I might just save up for this one.

So I opened up the speakers to check out the crossovers and my jaw dropped. Nothing on the woofer, a 3.3 uF on the mid and a 1uF on the tweeter. This means 5000 kHz on the mid and 19 kHz on the tweeter, so it makes both of them basically useless. Picked up a nice 3-way crossover off ebay and, my god, the sound. Like butter. This setup is one of the best I have heard so far. The crossover makes the speakers crisp, clear, amazing. Everyone should make sure they pop open the speaker cabinet and take a look, large cost-benefit ratio for sure.
