Hey guy, been browsing the forums for over a year and gone through a few headphones and just wondering where to go now.
All were paired with my Millet Hybrid, Fubar II Dac and high bitrate Mp3s -ASIO.
My first pair were the DT880s.
Pros:
- Very detailed
- Comfortable
- Loved the bass extension
- Loved soundstage
Cons:
- Very Cold
- Too analyical
- Highs were too emphasized
- Would of liked mids to be more forward.
So then came the AKG 701s
Pros:
- Very detailed
- Warmer than the DT880s
- Bass extension was all right but not as well as the DT880s
- Highs were fine
Cons:
- Uncomfortable - spot on top of my head gets sore after awhile
- Too analyical
- Too neutral
- Strange soundstage, cant describe it.
Now I have the AD900s
Pros:
- Love the sound signature - musical
- Very comfortable
- Light
- Mids are great
- Highs are fine
Cons:
- Missing alot of detail compared to my previous cans
- Bass not controlled, and does not extend very low
- Soundstage so-so
So now looks like the only way to go is the AD2000s? But i dont want to spend that much money and seems abit over kill.
Other options i should look at? Comments?
Thanks.
