The difference between The Hornet and the SR-71?

The SR71 has a wider soundstage and a is bit more lively than the standard Hornet. The modded Hornet is closer to the SR71 sound but from comparison done at a recent head-fi meet in London had a little less bass. So that would seem to indicate the same between the SR71 & standard Hornet.

Both are fine with my Ipod 30gb video and Westone UM2s.

So basically go fot the standard Hornet if you like more bass and the extras such as re-chargeable battery, gian switch and compactness. Go for the modded version if you prefer wider soundstage. The SR71 if you need less frills and a bigger physical presence - the Hornet does surprise many by its tiny size.

My opinion of course and there are several others if you search, some still preferring the SR71.
