I've had the chance to hear many ALO cables, both 22 and 18 gauge cables. While made of different materials, the 22 gauge was solid silver, and the 18 gauge ones were SXC and the OCC Triple Pipe. If I could ascribe any difference between the cables when considering the gauge, I would say that the thicker gauge cables are slightly slower sounding, but also put more meat othe bones of the signal. Conversly the smaller gauge cables were slightly quicker and maybe drier in nature. But those are only my observations, yours may vary.
