Tuned down 6 string buzz-saw guitar, and they play with a mid-eastern etheric tuning to boot.

As far as melodies, I don't think anybody sounds like them.

If there were a soundtrack to a movie about tanks plowing over the land decimating all life in their path, and turning the earth into Mars 2, this would be it.

But thier lyrics are intelligent, about the stupidity and futility of man in their eternal persuit of war. And they also meet the all important requirement of a female bass player.

I recommend "Mercenary" and "The 4th Crusade". I'm not much for their earlier stuff as it was more speed-metal and lacked the heavy-tank effect.

haven't really followed Bolt Thrower's newer stuff, but i don't think they've changed their style too much since the old days. hell, it sounds like they've tuned their guitars up a couple of notches over the years.
