I can't really do anything stupid going fast in this, but I can sure think of a lot of other fun and/or stupid things I can do!

2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I signed off on it two weeks ago, and brought it home, and today, I finally got to come back home and actually drive the thing. I love it! It's a dream, and though I'm already beginning to miss my old '95 Sidekick, I'm already looking forward to some fun off-roading in the near future.

How about a Hartge H50?

Based on a BMW 330i, but equipped with the V10 engine and gearbox from the BMW M5.

Hopefully you actually do it. 95% of all SUVs never leave the pavement, not even once.

I'm in a bit of a conundrum... looking for something with the 2.0T FSI engine with the intention of adding an S3 conversion or APR stage III kit (300+ hp).
Question is, would it be better to get a DSG tranny and FWD (A3, GTI), or Quattro and a tiptronic (A4 Avant)?
I'm leaning towards quattro since nothing kills my buzz like torque steer and a tiptronic in sport mode isn't that bad. The VW fwd cars seem to handle torque steer pretty well at ~200hp, but I wonder how well they would do at 300.

I drove by this thing the other day and fell in love!!

they dont make anything with quattro and dsg in 2.0t?... i'm a manual dude myself. i wouldn't opt for the tiptronic. i would consider a dsg and even in your case consider 3.2 liters (which is quattro and dsg available) like a r32. and in any other case, i would go with a manual shift.

They just started offering that with 2009 A3, but I'd rather buy lightly used. A brand new A3 is basically a $35k GTI with quattro, it's hard for me to justify that purchase.

The hard bit is finding one in good condition. Most have been either raced or tweaked like hell.

MkV R32 or A3 3.2 quattro are on my list but I just can't get excited about the 3.2L. Short of $15,000 HPA turbos, I haven't found anything that can be done to that engine. The 2.0T can be tuned well into the 300 HP range for pretty cheap.
Even though the A4 wagon has tiptronic, I think I'm leaning that way. A 320-380HP wagon would be such a great sleeper car.

Yeah, as a MKIV R32 owner, the thought of doing any upgrades is financially daunting! About all you can do inexpensively is chip/intake/exhaust. After that, you're talking about thousands if you want to make a lot more power.

Other things I'd love to do with it are: upgraded suspension, bigger rear sway bar, transmission mount to help curb the engine bucking, short shift kit, and haldex performance unit.
