The Santa Cruz plays in another league and is of course a great second-hand choice.

But the SB Live 24bit has AFAIK a good reputation here for a cheap card. Note that the SB Live 24bit has nothing in common with the old and crappy SB Live.

Sadly, it's not a real upgrade over onboard-sound quality-wise and it is most definitately not worth that price.

nForce4 doesn't support Dolby Digital Live encoding, in that respect it's inferior to nForce2.
