How about this one,Billie Holiday the very last recording.
Lester Young and Billie died shortly after this film was made.
The love and respect these two giants had for each other is very evident here.

Nothing beats Patricia Barber and Melody Gardot...

I have to confess I enjoy Patricia Barber in a "I know this is technically exceptional" (musically, vocally and the recording/mastering quality) kind of way but emotionally I find her a little sterile.

Awesome! I just went and picked up a copy of her WomanChild album off the strength of this post, so thanks for that

What a voice!

What a voice, indeed!

23 years old?!?!??! She has the emotion of Billie Holliday, (almost) the power of Ella Fitzgerald and (possibly) the texture of Sarah Vaughan. To quote Adam Richman "Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!".

This is through HD650s which could be sickly, as pouring syrup upon tarte tatin would be. However, this would appear to be somewhat perfect.

Mree's a relatively small Youtube singer, but I find the fragility and tonal quality of her voice to be wonderful.  Enjoy.

Reminds me of Alison Krauss. No wonder I love her lovely voice.

Not in fashion these days, but if you happen to like a bit of traditional folk music, Lucy Ward might fit the bill:
