THE best female vocals? (your favorite female singers)

Part 2

Arielle Dombasle - Operatic singer that seems to be all over the place in types of music.  I have a CD of her doing choir style of music with some extra electronica, but as I'm looking for videos of her there is everything out there.

Baxter - Nice sound in the Morcheeba style.

Daughter Darling -

Cissie Redgwick - electroswing.  Not much out there of hers yet but one of my favorite finds of 2013

Leah - Canadian symphonic metal.  Lots of Within Temptation and Nightwish fans about it seems.  This is my latest find in that genre and while it can't quite reach the trinity (Within Temptation, Nightwish, and Leaves Eyes), it is the closest something has come in a while.

Ingrid Karklins - Generally not sure even what category her music fits in.  Folk?

And that is the next six concluding part 2.  I keep finding more in my collection that haven't been posted so stay tuned for at least another 4 parts.  Enjoy all.

Finally got around to reading all of this thread over the holidays.  I have quite a few to add that haven't been posted yet.  I'll post in a couple of parts to not bring any browsers to a screeching halt.  I also rarely use Youtube, so hopefully I'm finding decent quality examples. As I'm posting, I'm noticing that apparently a lot of these are really obscure, so I'm linking them however I can, sorry for the inconvenience but they are worth it.  My rough list has 24 non posted people and I'll put them up as well as I can, but I'm sure to add more as I run into them in my collection.

Part 1

Trespassers William -  Hauntingly beautiful voice, and Different Stars is currently my second favorite song (and out of about 50,000 songs in my collection, that is saying something)

I had to pick up the Different Stars album after listening to her voice, and I'm sure I will be picking up at least another two or three different albums when I continue down your list, haha.

Your taste (As suggested in the first couple of songs/artists listed) is dead-on with mine, and I'm loving these gems that I have never heard before.  Thank you for posting it.

And on to part 3

La Muza - Spanish speaking vocalist.  Beautiful sound but have so far only found one CD (Terdiopelo).

Esben & the Witch - Interesting sound.  Some beautiful ethereal sounds, some noise.  Won't appeal to everyone, but I like it quite a bit.

Cirque Du Soleil - Beautiful performances and some of the best female vocalists around that perform for them.  The opening from Quidam called Atmadja is one of my favorites but there are many others.  My only problem with the Quidam CD is that it doesn't seem to have a great master.  It was the first thing I listened to when I upgraded my sound systems and I was kind of disappointed in how it ended up.

Yungchen Lhamo - Tibetan I have no idea what kind of music.  If I was to take up meditation I would probably do so to this.

Julianna Hatfield - This was one of my starting points in finding non top 40 music back in the early 90s and getting into the alternative scene.  Her voice has always had a special place for me

Jo Gabriel - If someone had told me this was Tori Amos, I wouldn't have questioned them.  Beautiful vocals with piano.  I can't find a thing on Youtube from her so I'm linking her webpage.  You can listen to her there, and one of my favorites is Bulldozer off of the Fools and Orphans CD.

And that is it for part 3.  This one turned out to be a multilingual mix it seems but that is random order from my rough list.  I'll probably put part 4 up tomorrow.  Enjoy all.

Whitney Houston (I will always love you is so good)

Chelly/EGOIST (Japanese) She has the voice of an angel.

The first like 30-40 seconds of the song are pure bliss.

Tada Aoi has a pretty good voice (only one song from what I know, but her voice is so soft). Also Japanese, and if you've seen Angel beats, you've heard her.

Lana Del Ray also has a nice voice.....kind of

I don't if vocaloid count so I'll end it here.

Part 4

ASA - Jazzy/ Trip hop/ Soul? The Way I Feel should be the opening of a Bond movie.

Emma Hill - Folk/ Americana singer.  Heard her live as she was doing a local show and was amazed.  Bought 3 CDs on the spot.

Sarah Fimm - One of my top female vocalists.  Wonderful voice over low tempo electronic.

Shivaree - Style varies, lounge? tango? other?  Descriptions are not doing these justice.

Annette Farrington - Found this over a decade ago through the Castle Von Buhler label (where I found Splashdown also, pity that label no longer exists).  They have released one CD that can be found on CDbaby.  Viva is my favorite song by her, but there were only 3 songs total on Youtube and that wasn't one of them.

The Fading Collection - electronica.  Yet another that there is almost nothing on Youtube about, so putting a link to their CDbaby page.  King Fader's Grief off of the Stems CD is a song I love (and made for a really neat ringtone on my phone).

And that is it for part 4.  Enjoy everyone.

Since it's New Year, and since she's recently released a new solo album, I feel justified in tipping my hat to the lovely Agnetha Fältskog, even though ABBA were mentioned 2 years ago.

I know it's a cliché, but seriously - I never grow tired of ABBA. I grew up during the 1970s and their melodies have never been matched in the world of popular music, and probably never will be. People who laugh at them do not realise the sheer quality of their pop music. Yes it's 'only pop', but it's pop at it's very best, so I make no apologies for knowing pretty much every word of every song they ever did

Here's Agnetha singing a song appropriate for the start of 2014 (but I can't believe this song is almost 34 yrs old, and I can remember when it was new!! LOL):

More Agnetha here:

Anni-Fred Lyngstad was also a talented singer, and here's a very old, pre-ABBA clip (FFW to 01:50):

There's loads more ABBA I could post, of course, but I deliberately chose the above songs because they have an emphasis on the individual vocals of each of the girls.

If I may recommend 3 outstanding albums with excellent singers:

 1. Carmen Gomes Inc.''Thousand Shades of Blue''(only available as a 24/96 Studio Master download at the Sound Liaison website,http://www.soundliaison.com/

2.Sinne Eeg ''Waiting for Dawn'' (http://www.sinnemusic.com/)

3.Triosence f.t Sara Gazarek ''Where Time Stands Still''(http://www.triosence.com/en/shop/)

These 3 albums are also very well recorded, especially the Carmen Gomes album is getting very good reviews in the audiophile community, and I find that the well defined sound stage of that album makes for excellent HeadPhone music.
