Sondheim's "Follies"--Papermill Playhouse Production
"RENT"
and believe it or not.....the "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" from two years ago. Performances PERFECT. I actually cried, it was so perfect. Sounds stupid, I know but good art is just what it is. Simple things done well.
Oh, and the current "CABARET" , again simple done well.
Oh, and "COWGIRLS" from about 5ys ago, off Bway
Oh, and "RAGTIME" most well-crafted opening ever created.
Seems like there's at least a few "Rent"-lovers around here. I also like "Rent" very much, and I've listened to the soundtrack CDs so many times that my girlfriend knew most of the songs before she even saw the play.
Yes, RENT is one of the most well-produced cast CDs of all time. It was DreamWorks first CD, I think, and they put a hell of a lot of money into it. It raised the bar for all Bway cast recordings since. That's why I rarely listen to any Bway CDs that were produced earlier than three or four years ago.
I'm so glad some people said Rent... I've seen it three times, twice here in Dallas and once on Broadway, and it was amazing all three times. I've literally worn my CDs out listening to it so many times... gotta get a new copy sometime
Other than that, yall gotta check out the original London cast's recording of Les Miserables... it's an HDCD, and sounds awesome.
