Resonessence labs has just announced and put up for sale two new producects the Concero HD dac and the Concero HP which is both a dac and headphone amp are the newest models introduced by Resonessence labs.  Both new Concero's have been updated to include the flagship chip by EES, the Sabre 9018-2M.  As far as I can tell, like the previous model though the HD is also powered by USB or can be plugged into the wall via USB when using S/PDIF.  The HP on the other hand I assume would be plugged into the wall to power the internal amp.  The Concero HD and HF both cost $850 and for $50 more the HD comes bundled with a remote to change filters and a plug for your usb when using Coax.

Actually, while that's a reasonable assumption, I don't think, from the specs sheet, that there is a separate power source for the HP. Hmmm, wonder how well, or not, it drives headphones of any substance?

From what I understand now the HP and HD are both powered by usb.  The difference though is that the HP does not have RCA out.  From the look of it, it seems like it would make a very competent travel rig as all you would need to do is plug it into your laptop or other source.  It would also drive easier to drive headphones but I think you would need a tad bit more power if you are trying to run any of the planars by Hifiman or Audeze.

Personally I am more interested in the HD as I have an amp that is more powerful than the onboard one on the HP.  I am excited to hear impressions when people finally get a chance though.
