That's coincides with my own observation on K7XX sound.
I found them more suited for pop and EDM music than for classical. The sound is just hasn't enough warmth to truthfully describe deep warm notes that double bass and viola da gamba are capable of. The female soprano voices in baroque operas sound somewhat distant and cold with the soundstage moving farther into the scene. Not that they sound bad or shrill... just a bit different from what I perceive as a natural and organic presentation of the classical music.
Though, K7XX sounds amazing with some genres particularly with pop, rock and EDM.
I don't have my K7XX yet but listen to a lot of acoustic jazz and classical on my K712 while I wait for them to arrive. Considering the consensus seems to suggest the two models are more alike than different I'll post links to a few example tracks of songs I think sound superb (forgiving for youtube sound quality):
"Haitian Fight Song" - Mingus Big Band:

"Re-Jigue" - Alan Parsons:

"Albeniz - Suite Espanola No.1 Opus 47" - New Philharmonia Orchestra:

"Requiem" - John Rutter:

"The Flower Duet (from Lakmé)" - Léo Delibes:

"Der Leiermann from Winterreise" - Franz Schubert (Yoram Chaiter, bass):

EDM, pop, rock? Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, Shpongle, Kroke, The Who, and Underworld are a few of my favorite bands. I think the K712 handles *everything* quite well and I'm honestly hoping to be disappointed by the K7XX, due to it's similar sound.
