So my AKG Q701's are old, I'm the 4th owner of them (the headphones are 5 years old). Given that information, both sides of the headphones have snapped headbands. Yeah, Ouch. I baby my headphones but any moving components are bound to break anyways. I'm also not a fan of the bumpy headbands but the sound makes up for it.

 
I used to be picky about headphones but now all headphones seem to be nice except the Westone UM3X that makes all my music sibilant (I listen to jpop).
 
So my question is:

What are the current best bang for buck headphones on the market right now?

The 7xx are a great headphones for the price. If you don't mind dropping the $200. On them I would go for it. They have better base and a clear mid range then the 702 and they are much more comfortable no Bumps on the head band and much more comfortable ear pads
