Santa Monica, CA, September 20, 2011 - Antelope Audio introduces two new colors for the front panels of its premium 384 kHz USB DAC Zodiac Gold. Antelope's flagship DAC is now available in Noir (deep black) and Natural (pure aluminum) finish, to match the aesthetics of every audiophile set-up.

Besides captivating the eye with a clear, elegant design, Zodiac Gold provides music lovers with an unmatched sonic experience. The DAC employs Antelope's proprietary 64-bit Acoustically Focused Clocking (AFC) and Oven Controlled Clocking, which bring significant benefits to the detail, dynamics and stereo placement of the audio.

There is more emotional impact... It's like the most accurate representation of what I'm getting from the mix,” the Grammy-winner Brian Vibberts said. “The headphone amp is amazing, much better than all the others I've been using throughout the years,” Vibberts added.

Zodiac Gold features: Balanced & Unbalanced Analog inputs and outputs; 2 x S/PDIF and 2 x Optical inputs; AES/EBU Digital input & De-jittered S/PDIF and AES/EBU outputs; 2 switchable impedance HP amp outputs; a Word Clock Input and a high-speed USB 2.0 connectivity. The proprietary, custom USB chip performs a sampling rate of up to 384 kHz, and works with native drivers allowing a rapid multi-platform plug and play, requiring no driver installation.

In order to satisfy the sophisticated audiophile, Antelope Audio also offers the Noir option for its heavy-duty power supply unit Voltikus. This way it will match perfectly both with Zodiac Gold Noir and the 192 kHz Zodiac+.

All DACs in the Gold family come with a matching, machined aluminum remote control. In addition, the users can operate the device from the comfort of their armchair, using Zodiac Control Panel available for OS X, Windows and Linux. The app also allows a rapid one-click firmware updates.

A year ago Antelope Audio launched the Integrity Line of USB DACs, starting with the 192 kHz Zodiac+. Later that year Zodiac Gold came out and quickly became Antelope's best selling product, proving to be very well received both by the audiophile community and the media. In July 2011 the company completed the range with the entry-level 192 kHz Zodiac, allowing a much broader number of music lovers to enjoy the finest quality audio at a competitive price. Hi, since you're in Central Illinois, you might be willing for a few hours drive to Sweetwater at Fort Wayne, Indiana. I think that's the closest dealer.

That is a 5 hour drive one way.  Unusual location for a store compared to 3 closer large cities of Chicago, St. Louis and Indianapolis which are all under a 3 hour drive.  Thanks though.

Just to be clear ...
HOW does Antelope do "384kHz D/A"?

E.g....
Does Antelope use an internal (OEM) chip -- like ESS Sabre -- that can handle this high-rez conversion?
Or, does Antelope use its own (proprietary?) software-programmed architecture via a "generic" DSP chip (like Motorola, etc)?

I could not find any refs or info on this on the Antelope site (or a simple Google search).

Thx
