Yes it would. My 360 sounds much better when I use it to stream music from my pc. I sounds as good as my oppo 970 using it to stream music and outputting the digital signal to my dac.

To revive an old thread. I just got a Star Wars 360 from my son and is my source for my computer room stereo. I am running the hdmi to a dell monitor and using the 3.5mm out of the monitor. I am quite impressed with cd output. I don't know what dacs the monitor has or if the output of the xbox is much improved....quite pleased...just wish the xbox ripped to a better rate.
