I can imagine that REM's End of the World has come pretty awesome misquotes available. Some of the songs on the list don't make a whole lot of sense though. For instance TLC's Dont Go Chasing Waterfalls...I'd say that one is pretty easy to figure out.

..and I always thought that "Born In The USA" by Bruce Springsteen was pretty much misquoted/used by a political party based in the USA, but then again I may have misunderstood what misquote really means.. :) Since I'm not local I may be excused...

I have my own true-life experience that relates to the music of Jimi Hendrix, but it is different than the one in the article.
 
I was dating a girl, and Jimi Hendrix was in heavy rotation. My girlfriend wasn't very familiar with Hendrix's music.
 
After some time, I discovered that she thought this was the lyric to Hendrix's "If Six Was Nine":
 
"Now if a cyst turns out benign, I don't mind, I don't mind."

(The correct lyric is, of course, "Now if a six turned out to be nine, I don't mind, I don't mind.")
 
Myself and several friends laughed about that one for quite awhile...
