Guy over on the AudioTrak forums is recommending 3 or the THS4032's on Brown Dog adapters for a AudioTrak Prodigy HD2.

Does anybody have any experience with these opamps ???

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS|THS4032ID|Operational Amplifier (Op-Amp | Newark.com

I have 2 OPA2604's paired with a AD8022.

Getting opamp rolling fever again.

Just want to get some opinions on the THS4032's.

My 4032 is bright, detailed, clean, and well-separated.

I think I would replace "bright" with open, but that's close..

I probably say bright because I am comparing this chip to my NE5532, but I will rescind my descriptor for your aptly applied adjective.

I'd say all of the above. But they can run quite hot, and are prone to oscillating... They were my favourite for a long time...

OPA827 is a better all-rounder IMO, as-is LT1028.

i just put in the 2 x 2604 8022 combo-- it is burning in now, and is sounding very good. it is detailed, fairly dynamic, has good prat, yet has a nice sweetness/coherence to it in the prodigy.

Hi!

I'm in the same situation. I have a HD2 too and I would like to upgrade it with a very good opamp. I have read the guy's suggestion of the THS4032 on the audiotrak forum. But this is just one opinion...

link for the topic

What do you think, would this chip be the best choice for the money? Or are there better opamps in this price range? (It's kinda expensive, because it needs converting from soic to dip8. About 30 euro for the three in my country).
So I would have more money for the opamp if it's dip8.

Any opamp recommendatation is appreciated.

The THS4032 and single channel 4031 is a highly recommended opamps for audio although IIRC, it was not designed with audio in mind. The issue with this opamps as with many is stabalization. It is a very fast opamps and can become unstable in some circuits. Although I have read it seems to match good with that particular circuit.
Try it out, let us know your results.

Thanks for the replies!

So far, I know another one HD2 working with this opamps. Owner sais it sounds really good.

I think I will try it, but it's hard to get here and I don't know who will solder it to DIP8 for me...

I paid $15 shipped for one THS4032CD from Tirna Electronics. Look up THS4032 or THS4032CD on eBay, they advertise it as a 'beresford upgrade'. They've got it mounted on DIP8 and have a resistor soldered on to reduce noise/oscillation issues.
