new sound card announced 10/03... sounds like a successor to EWX.

From the press release:
Premium converter components deliver audio quality to satisfy even the most demanding studio requirements.

Anyone have any experince with Phase22? It looks to be the base version of Terratec's "professional" series.

Best of all, it can be had for about $100.

Converter is the common AK4524, so I guess it's not so different quality wise from Audiophile, EWX, 6Fire.

It seems the differences with EWX are basically :
balanced 1/4 jacks instead of RCAs
SPDIF instead of TOS-Link (even though, if I'm not mistaken, you can have SPDIF in EWX also, by soldering connectors to specific internal pins)
