I recieved my Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space yesterday.
The sound is pretty amazing considering that the card only cost me 140 dollars or so...

Well, even though I adore the sound when listening to music, I've encountered a SERIOUS problem.

I bought the Terratec card (instead of M-audio revo) as I wanted a card that worked well with games, but as soon as I enable Sensaura support and start a game of "Counter-Strike" my computer crashes. (Please note that it doesn't crash when I start the program, only when I connect to a server.)

I've reinstalled the card with different drivers 3 times, but the problem still remains. If the problem can't be fixed I'll have to return the card; right now it is worse for gaming than my old SB Live.

(I'm using Win XP Professional, but I can't install Service Pack 1 as I install the OS from a non-original CD.)

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I'd really appreciate your help!

Thanks,

EDIT:
I can play the game, but I can't use any 3D-functions like EAX or A3D... =(

In the meantime, put your old SB Live back in and use it for gaming. Use the Aureon for music.

You're going to need to figure out a way to install Service Pack 1 eventually, otherwise your machine is going to get trashed by some online cracker exploiting holes in unpatched XP.

Well, thanks for the reply... I'll see if I can reinstall Windows tomorrow... And this time I'll be using the original CD, not some useless copy...

Do you think that such simple a thing as installing SP1 will solve the problem?

HanssoN: I'm not sure, whether SP1 alone will cure the problem. But in case you have only tried an ACPI installation so far, I'd recommend to try a non-ACPI installation with the resources manually assigned through the BIOS setup. That helps fairly often.

Greetings from Munich!
