until i build my computer around december (with e-mu 0404), i have to use my crappy laptop as my source.

i have an HD650 and a Gilmore Lite, and i want an external dac that would enhance the sound quality out of my laptop. but because this is a temporary setup, i do not want to spend a lot of money on it. maybe 100-150$ at the most.

will the m audio transit do the work? i have heard great things about this usb dac. or is there any better option?

thanks

i have nothing but praise for the echo indigo. it's a pcmcia dac/amp card and it really does a very good job for the price and size. this is coming from someone with a dynahi and a vda/vac combo.

I wouldn't bother spending $ on a DAC now. Use that money to get something better than 0404 later on. Or just get a headroom micro DAC @ $300 now

Get a turtle beach advantage micro usb for $20 to hold you over.
