I've listened to my friend's HD555 and LOVED it. I also loved how great it sounded unamped, almost couldn't tell the difference amped/unamped.

I was wondering, how does the HD595 compare??? How does it sound unamped???

They will sound ok, but much much better amped. Otherwise you wouldn't have amps to power them and get the most out of them.

Well, I feel that every headphone sounds better amped... But how much??? I'm not exactly an audiophile.
The HD25-1 sounds EXACTLY the same amped and unamped, and I heard ALOT of people say that it gets considerably better


DOes the unamped HD595 sound better than the HD555???

It will depend on what you run the headphones on. If its an ipod then hooking it up via a little cmoy amp does sound nicer than a stock ipod. It will also depend on 'what you hear'. Some people have better hearing than others plus they also know what to listen for. I'm not saying you don't, that's just the reason people tend to say amped up is better. I think if you are using fairly decent gear the sound becomes a lot more noticeable. Hope that helps.
