I just wanted to post an update to my last comments. I had the ST700's for about a month, when the left speaker stopped working. I believe this was because I had the jack jammed into my pocket along with my iPhone 5s during lengthy listening sessions. I returned them for a refund...and bought another pair.
The reason I did that is because I like the sound signature so much. The ST800s (and maybe even my HD280's) are superior in that they reveal more detail than the ST700's, but I just love the way these sound. Despite what I said about country and rock sounding 'hollow', I believe that was just because I had tried the ST700s with inferior recordings. They do still sound better with EDM though.
So for the future, these are strictly for stationary use. For mobile, I'll go back to my Sennheiser MX365 buds. Disappointing, but I'll have to find something sturdier for mobile use.
