How is the bass quantity on the extra wide pads? I feel like I heard someone say it rolled off sub but everything else about them seems awesome tbh

I don't find the bass deficient or rolled off with the wide pads. it has very good rumble too (although TC remains king here). in some songs, it even seems as though the punch and oomph from the P is better than any of my other headphones. all in all, with my current setup/chain I'm having a ball of a time with the P; it's the whole package for me, ie comfort, feel, sound.

OK *** edit

for the first line of my reply "I don't find the bass deficient or rolled off with the wide pads." let me just qualify this statement by saying, I'm so used to the sound now that I don't feel like I'm missing out on sub-bass or rumble. the sound I get is really very balanced and enjoyable. the only headphone I can get more sub-bass is with the TC.

I’m becoming your disciple @Roasty. Silver cable is on to do list. I think you don’t like Lavricables. If not, which one do you recommend again? Thanks

I had the silver grand from lavri a while ago. I do believe they have changed up their silver though. I only use an Aeris from Arctic Cables with the P.

Great to hear that more and more people are discovering and enjoying the SolP. It's also interesting to see how impressions of the UltraWide pads have changed over the course of the thread. Unfortunately these positive impressions are making it less likely that T+A will ever look at redesigning the pads to attain a more neutral signature. What are you doing to me people ??!!🤣

I do enjoy these headphones, but still maintain that an alternate pad design would maximize their potential. Nevertheless, for all who love them exactly as is (stock, with the wide pads or with a silver cable) I doubt that it is possible to find a better headphone in terms of long term listening, build quality and flexibility to work with different sources.

Enjoy!

I agree. The build quality is exceptional.

Did you feel the mid range was too recessed? I was surprised how good vocals are on the Sol P. They were more forward than I expected. Susvara and TC midrange seemed a lot more recessed to my ears.

Just the upper mids and just by a few dB (maybe 3 -5 dB) max.

The subjective impact is a lack of dynamics (not easily noticeable on some material) and a slight darkening/rounding of the response leading to a darker tonality. It is a tradeoff to obtain the easy listening signature and is somewhat similar to the classic Audeze response.

With this area equalized up, although the mid to upper treble remains reduced relative to a neutral signature, it is not heard as such because there is a slight treble peak higher up in the response and the distortion of the driver is so low that treble details are easily heard. As a result the easy listening essence of the SolP is not severely impacted.

I think silver cable sounds good with the SolP specifically because silver tends to open up the response in that critical upper midrange.

the wide pads are worth a go. After spending whatever amount on the SolP and the rest of the chain, the cost of the wide pads is relatively small.

imo, if one really wishes to EQ with the P, there are 2 main choices.
a) stock pads and EQ for the upper mids and highs
b) ultra wide pads and EQ with just a low shelf gain

If I had to choose one, I'd say B is probably the easier option and the one less likely to screw up. with the wide pads, the bass is punchy and detailed and perhaps a slight shelf would help with the amount of bass is one feels it is insufficient.

whereas trying out EQ for the mids and highs, I find it really hard to find a balance with the gain and Q settings, and often muck up the forwardness, clarity, air/spaciousness, sibilance etc etc.

For the folks rocking a Susvara and Solitaire P. I’m very curious on how they sound different when using the ultrawide pads. Will be keeping the Solitaire. I now own a Dave and wondering which way I should go.

Keep Susvara and get a AHB2 paired with Dave and eventually Mscaler or keep LCD5 and get an Mscaler.

Wondering if there is something special the Solitaire P does not have with ultra wide pads that Susvara has or not.

LCD5 is not the most the most technically proficient out of the 3 to my ears but the ear gain is good for rock/alternative. More live sounding. Which Sol P and Susvara do not have as much.

I personally would ditch the LCD-5 and get a Utopia with silver cable.

A friend turned me onto another mutual friend that was selling his P so I grabbed them. They are going to replace my Susvara for OTE HP’s for a bit and I’ll grab another Susvara down the road.
Did you end up keeping your Susvaras or purchased it again?

I haven't bought another pair but I have a pair in house that a friend loaned me to compare on the WA33 Elite to the 3ES and Shangri-La Sr.
speaking of, impressions when?

Anyone here tried SolP with an Ifi Diablo for maximum mobile driving power?

Not with the Diablo but with a Cayin C9 with very good results. I use solid state timbre in class AB mode for better speed and dynamics.

I don't think there is anything to beat the FiiO M17 in the market right now. You can even do system level EQ/DSP (e.g. Qobuz) using Wavelet or Poweramp PEQ.You can even use a battery pack and use the external power supply mode for even more and clean power.
