More able to achieve with "straight through" audio amplification.
No tone controls/Direct signal path/neutral active components/ little frequency programming by cap/resistance networks[ no bandwidth limiting] "clean" PS and so on.

Sometimes, realistic sound isn't the most enjoyable. It all depends on your preference. Clean realistic high resolution camera shots aren't always the perfect. The same photo photoshoped or modded with Instagram will almost always look better.

That's why colored / warm signature can sound better than a flat one.

Just my 2 cents.

You could say the sound has already been 'photoshopped' at the studio to 'look' better. Having non-neutral cans would be like looking at the photo through thick distorting glasses.

I would agree with this.  Excellent way to say it.
