I'm working on a CTH (yeay!) which is nearing completion. Doesn't mean it'll work, but still, I have high hopes

. I would like to be able to switch my source (CD player) signal from the headphone amplifier to the speaker amplifier without having to undo cables. Can I just connect the CD player source to a DPDT switch to do this, or do I risk having something go wrong? I presume I need a break-then-make switch, too. The two amps would not be on at the same time. I can provide details of the amp and CD player if needed. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks!

Most people just use a Y-splitter to connect them both to the source.

Turn the volume way down on the one you don't want to listen to. Or if the one you don't want to listen to is off that works too.

Switching from amp to amp is dangerous because its FAR too easy to bump the volume knob (we have all been there - durr why isnt there sound? let me spin the knob up high and then change the source selector...) and then flip the switch... and blast yourself.

Just hook them up with a y-splitter.
