not sure if you guys are aware of this, but i just logged on to my yahoo account and saw the fellowing:

Dear Yahoo! Mail User,

Thanks for using Yahoo! Mail. It's our goal to offer you an email experience that makes it easy and enjoyable to stay in touch. Periodically, we make service changes to enhance that experience for our users.

As of June 15, 2004, you'll enjoy the following benefits:
Increased storage capacity – from your current level to 100MB
Increase in total message size to 10MB

A streamlined interface that's even easier to use
You will continue to access your Yahoo! Mail account as usual. No further action is required, and there will be no interruption of your service.

so nice to see my 80% full down to 4% when i logged on.

this upgrade, as far as i know, makes yahoo one of the best free mail service around. they have an excellent spam filter and i've had this account for 4 years now with no problems!

if you have hotmail, i recommend the switch. anyone else here think that msn actually gives away your email account? because i notice that even when i dont use the account, and just register for no reason, i still get tons of spam. which doesn't happen with my really old and unused yahoo account.

anyways, i dont work for them or anything. just wanted to spread the good news.

I'm glad Google Gmail has kicked off this trend. As cheap as HD storage has gotten lately, it's about time anyway. I wonder if this move will serve to "commoditize" Email even more though, with pay Email services disappearing completely.

I use Yahoo! Mail Plus and I'm glad they lowered the fee down to $19.99 and took away the ads. I don't need the 2GB of storage they're giving me since I download my email into Thunderbird every day, but it's better than the 25MB I was getting. I got an email about the changes they were making to Mail Plus this afternoon.

Which is funny, because I just signed up for the first time yesterday.

Yes, I got the same announcement this morning, and I like the looks of the new format a lot better.

The only thing that baffled me was going into secure mode. You really can't tell what mode you're in unless you look at the http: or https: in the address field.

Now if they would only also scan all emails for viruses...

Whoa, that's crazy. I do remember that they lowered the free amount from 6MB (what I have) to 4MB...I was like...HAHA losers...lol That's cool that they increased it, but since I'm such a long-time user, they should make mine like 150MB just because

I've known a lot of people that have that problem. I've had my msn account for about 2 1/2 years and I NEVER get spam.
Now my earthlink account is a totally different story. I never used to get spam but I think lately they've turned off their filters or something.

Yes! This is great news especially for my cousin. 100MB seems like infinite storage but it pales in comparison to the upcoming Google GMail! Perhaps we should switch? If only Google offered Instant Messenging. Hmmm....

Yahoo email does.

I now have a Gmail account, though, so unfortunately this new cornucopia of disk space isn't of much use to me. Who wants to buy an invite?

For $19.99 a year you can get Yahoo! Mail Plus with 2GB of storage and no image ads (I don't see any text ads there, but they may be coming) and get POP3 functionality so you can download your messages into any email client. I've been paying for Yahoo! Mail service ever since they stopped giving away free POP3 access, and it's been worth it to me.

I pay for POP3 access and forwarding, and today Yahoo emailed me to let me know that they are now including the benefits of the Plus plan rolled in. I now have a whopping 2GB of email storage, improved Spam Guard, Norton Anti-Virus scanning on all incoming emails, and more, all for free. Wow! It was cool to go to Yahoo! and log on and find out that all the ads were gone now.

If you're looking for a free alternative to getting POP3 access to your Yahoo! account check out YahooPops!
