Sorry I'm new, but I got bored and bought some "replica" beats solos for cheap and I'm actually really impressed by the construction. However I want to change the 40mm drivers to something decent.

Is there a place that sells cheaper drivers by them selves or what would be some really cheap headphones that I could use as a donor which would sound better than the original beats.

I'm not really looking for the most amazing sound in the world, I have a Polk audio set up at my house if I really want to listen to music, I just wanted something stylish that sounds decent. (But really really didn't want to but real beats and take them apart for the price)

i just checked out mouser and digikey but all the 40mm speakers have really poor bass, (I'm new to headphone world)
do headphones not do 20hz to 20khz?

Forget stylish. Budget-high-performance is a fashion statement anyway. Buy a pair of Koss Portapros.

Well, like I said in the original post, this is a DIY project for fun, if I want to listen to music I have a system that will blow any headphones out to hell and back. I really just want to do this for fun and to have beats that are better than "beats"

if you wanna go really deep, you might want to find a planar magnetic driver somewhere and try those
 
i haven't listened to any of them, but have a few bookmarked for a similar project when i have time.  good job on the DIY, it's about the journey and the fun not necessarily making something better than what's available
