I was just wondering if it was possible to swap drivers out for different Audio Technica headphones. I noticed that most headphones use the 52mm driver and upon opening up my headphones and comparing to other pictures such as the W5000 below, it looks like drivers might be interchangeable. Link to pictures when I defoamed my AD700s. If you look in the pictures, the driver looks very similar, similar tinsel leads, etc.

Would I be able to buy replacement drivers online or from AT for some higher end cans, like the AD2000s and swap them in?

A-T will charge you an arm an a leg to the point where it's just as expensive as buying the whole headphone. None the less, it is possible. However your AD700 driver and the bracket(s) that hold the driver in place look different then other models i've seen. The drivers in my AD900 and A900 are the same shape with minor differences in the venting on the back of the driver, and i know all the high end models use exactly the same plastic molds for around the driver.
