My Sundara headphones arrived this week and have about 50 hours of break in/burn in. I heard the could be used with iPhone but the Fiio BTR5 would drive them better. Well my iPhone XR via Bluetooth to the BTR5 on Hi gain is still not loud enough, and yes I am careful to use reasonable levels so as not to damage my hearing. The volume is listenable but 10% less than I would like.

Also, on my iPad Pro 10" which has an actual headphone jack, pretty much the same experience except when the Sundara is plugged directly into the iPad I am getting about 5% more volume than via Bluetooth and the BTR5 on h gain. Still not quite the volume I desire.

Does this match with other's experiences? Is my BTR5 below other BTR5's and made on a Friday?

Is t here a similar Bluetooth/Dac/Amp with more power?

Thanks to any with input

That headphone has a fairly low sensitivity. Even with enough loudness, I doubt you will get enough current output from any small BT adapter for it to sound near it's best. Your best bet is with a proper full size DAC/amp that supports BT function.
