Anybody know a cheap place to order these from, a store that carries them or an easier to find alternative? Cheapest place I found was $10 shipped for one (another place $18 shipped for three, but who needs three?).

they actually sell them at your local Apple Store now. i guess they got enough exposure to get picked up as a standard accessory, good for them. got a 3-pack on the cheap in the Delaware Apple Store.

None that would be interested in a smartwrap.

Anybody know how much cable can be wound up on one of these? I'm starting to think that it might not be big enough (the ex71sl cord was slightly long for me, I had it wrapped a couple of times around the little bud "case" that came with it to shorten it up). So I'm looking at maybe 3.5' of extra cord (going from ex71sl to e3), and I don't think it'll fit. I may have to end up devising another way.

i dislike the extra weight it puts on your cables.
have you tried it, or at least something similiar just to get the feel?
i never even use mine anymore.

it's true they add weight. but i use them to tuck cables in nicely into my camera bag - they aren't ever dangling like a fishing weight on my cable line.
