i would like to try a headphone amp to see what all the hubbub is about. 
could someone suggest an amp that would go well with the SR80 for less than $250

Tube or SS? dunno. Which ever. doesn't matter to me. maybe tubes?
i don't really care about portability. 
i know the Little Dot III and the Schiit asgard are in my price range. if i don't HAVE to spend $250 to get decent results.
I can also DIY, if there's something super-special in my price range (or better yet, below)
heck, maybe i don't need an amp at all with the POD? i just thought i would try one out to see if i'm missing anything.
