i mostly listen to pop, rock, alternative pop and rock. i need very good bass and very  very good soundstage. i will be grateful if someone can suggest me a headphone within my budget and criteria

Audioquest Nighthawk - you could pick up the old wood-style version and have money left over for an amp (portable or desktop)
Or you could pick up one of the new Carbon variants and have enough money over for a light meal.

I would second that recommendation, the X2s are lovely. You could also look at Final Audio Sonorous II or III - amazing bass extension.

I read that on the 700 thread and still find it hard to believe that they sound anywhere close to the same to anybody.

​I know right? That's why it leads me to believe something is defective and I want to return them. Perhaps though, is there a burn in time, and how long?
