I currently have the xiaomi piston 3 and love them, but they don't make them anymore. I also have the tennmak pro, but their cable is horrible and keeps losing contact.

What can you recommend for $50 or less? I'd want to avoid ones with MMCX connectors like in the tennmak. Price is flexible if there's a much better option for less than $100.

$50--SoundMAGIC E10 and KZ ZS10; $100--iBasso IT01. Just be aware that the IT01 is a huge step up in performance from the other two, both of which are perfectly fine for the $50 pricepoint. Good luck.

The Hifiman RE400 can sometimes be found for us49. Amazing headphones for the price, they were in Tyll's Wall of Fame and I personally can attest that they sound pretty well

I would totally buy that, but the build quality of hifiman is garbage. I have a broken pair of RE400 with the cable completely ripped. They sounded great though.

HiFiMAN build quality is just not very good (yes, I own HiFiMAN).

HiFiMan always have build issue...
IT01 if you have 100 to spend.
E1000 from Final audio if you want to save.
