I love my HD555 and have had them for a few years now, but I have yet to find any IEM's that sound close to them. I currently have CX-300, Z-buds and jvc marshmallow. Looking for something Sub $150 sound isolation is not important. I will be listening through my iphone 3g and fiilo e5.

I think that anything less than the Shure SE530's, Sleek SA6, Klipsch custom3, or Atrios, are going to disappoint. Customs would require at least dual driver if not triple driver models to even come close to full sized cans. I have the Hearyourself.com C-3 triples and although the SQ is amazing, they could not compete with similarly priced full size.

try the PFE and amp it with E5 (be sure to burn-in). it will never disappoint you.i never heard the HD555 but if bass is what you're after plus details, clarity and crisp sound, the amped PFE is just for you. just use the black filters.

555s are rather weak in bass anyway. Doing the foam mod improves it a slight bit as well as slightly improves the soundtage, and I'm sure the grill mod would improve it as well, but I haven't tried that.

Regardless, the PFEs are well regarded for sub $150 IEMs, and are actually recommended in higher price ranges as well.

It's tough to find IEMs that sound like full size headphones.

The PFEs or possibly the NE-7M if you want to go a cheaper route would work well.

UE Super.fi 5 pro, I find them sound-wise quite similar to 555.
