Stupid question: Why does it seem like everyone has HD650; no HD600 anymore?
Jul 22, 2005 at 6:09 PM Post #16 of 23
I had the 650's and got rid of them, and I am now looking for the 600's w/ cardas because the lsat couple of times i've heard them I really have been impressed by what the 600's have to offer.

Oh, and if anyone is reading this thread and feels the need to upgrade to 650's from their 600's, please shoot me a PM as i have a WTB in the for sale forums, thanks!

I went to my local Good Guys (similar to Best Buy but regional chain) and they said they could order the 650 but the 580 and 600 were discontinued.

Good point, although the frequency response graphs are a little different.

Didn't you say you'd never heard a HD600

I still use an HD-600!

... as well as a HD-650.

My theory is that it is a manifestation of that terrible Head-Fi disease...

UPGRADITIS.

There is no known cure. Only very expensive ongoing treatment in the form
of buying ever more expensive headphones, and bragging rights thereto
appertaining

The HD600 is still a very good headphone and only slightly better than the HD580. It is nothing wrong with choosing these if you like the sound. Perhaps you get a better overall sound if your budget is tight and you spend the remaining money on a better amp or source.
