Ok, I'm 47 so not exactly the target demographic for this stuff maybe, but why oh why oh why is everything headphoneish going down the wireless route? I don't mind wires - in fact, I'll go so far as to say I probably prefer them with IEMs, cos I'm a left handed idiot who loses everything and without the wires you can bet your left nut I'd be replacing earpieces within seconds of getting them,

Is this just a money making new gimmick being forced on us, or does the world actually want to be free of its cables?

I'm 56 and also not in the demographic but I personally love them and find myself using then more and more. My personal favourites are the Sony WH1000 xm2's and the excellent Apple Airpods. In fact not I think about it I have more wireless headphones than I do wired ones.

As for sound quality the Sony's sound rate excellent thanks to the use of Sony's LDAC codec and the rather excellent amplification found in them. Having said that I think the Airpods also sound great - perhaps I'm getting old!

older than all so far that have posted, so I blame Steve Jobs (if I was a millennial socialist dem I'd blame Trump for all the world's problems- naturally)/Apple.

Look how Apple has been pushing wireless everything for decades now, they force you to obtain all software via wireless/network connection now, no physical software distribution. Apple to blame for being 1st to remove headphone jack on smartphones, leading to Airpods -yet another PITA/flaky/unreliable wireless standard now.

..."I can wait, we have time"...uh, no; Jobs was visibly extremely gaunt, little time left on this planet.

I would expect *much* more in the way of wireless, BT 'true wireless' like Airpods, in the future. Wired won't be extinct in a decade, just most earphones will be BT, or some other wireless transmission standard by then. Too much potential for digital processing via the smartphone > earphone, SoC 7nm or 5nm process that Apple's going to use, maybe even higher performance Axx chips into the Apple Watch, with same DSP(s) going on from there, plenty of apps to tailor sound digitally...expect more digital 'shaping' /manipulation of the source b4 it gets to your ears.

Can't tell you how many days/weeks of my life I have wasted trying to get inkjet printers to reliably printout from super buggy software via Wifi network, almost w/o fail i"ll end up having to connect directly via wired USB when I have to get something to printout to meet an critical/vital mailing/legal deadline.

I'm old skool, I never want to be w/o wires, but fatalist in me knowing that b4 I die, wireless everything will become the 'new normal', like faux climate change.

Once you snag your headphone cables on a doorknob, and get them yanked out of your ear, right when the best part of the song is about to drop, then you'll understand

In reality though, someone thought it was a good idea, tried to market it, and it worked, and now everyone else is jumping on the bandwagon. Most people don't sit down and listen to music to relax, they usually do it on the move while commuting, walking, etc.

This gentleman's post is psychological projection at its strongest, ladies and gentlemen. I can tell you, with 100% accuracy, that the problem wasn't the printer...or the software....or the wi-fi network.
