I'd say, it also depends from the music style that's thrown onto the HPs. I can definetely enjoy simple stuff like Easy Listening or Ambient with my EQ'ed rig as much as with my audiophile home rig. EQing really solves the tonality problems of a , say, 20€ HD201. However, when music gets more complicated, cheap can driver's speed disabilities can not be solved. Listening to dubstep or metal is a very unpleasant experience with my cheaper stuff. The thrill I get from my badass cans turns into annoyance, as they olnly throw out a muddy wall of sound due to their lack of blackness.
