Studio Monitors or Bookshelf Speakers?

I would imagine studio monitors if you primarily listen to music, but for gaming and movies, I believe the mixing guys are counting on you having a consumer level system that isnt about flat frequency response.

IMO, a studio monitor with the right DSP decoding technologies (THX, Dolby, etc.) would sound phenomenal for movies. As for gaming, that depends on games because studio monitors only portray what's on the source with minimum coloration

But you are on the right track. Pro gear is the way to go. Today you have more choices than ever before. All the ones you listed are excellent choices. Go with whatever your budget allows and be happy.

I think you use your own DAC. It doesn't have an internal DAC.

Either way, save yourself money and get Kali Audio LP-6 and you will have state of the art sound at a price that is unbeatable!
