My pc speakers are some awfull philips 2.1 and i was thinking of buying some better speakers. I found Behringer MS40 at a decent price and nice specs

My question is, could i use the integrated headphone connector on these to drive my Alessandro MS1? is the sound quality better then directly from my onboard soundcard?

Or ar there better choices?

I own a pair of those and I can say to you that it can drive any of my cans without a problem (AKG K701, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro, Ergo Model 2). The sound will be much better than your pc's onboard soundcard.
I bought mine from here Behringer*MS 40, Aktivmonitor Digital 2-Wege, 40w, 24bit DAC,*@*Music Store and I'm loving it...

Better choices? Yes, but not for money......

Now im a bit confused.. i found a topic here on head-fi and the guy says abou driving his dt880 "It's God awful. Don't Don't Don't DON'T EVER use it. It's warbling and god knows what else. I doubt if they even thought about a resistor between the speaker amp and the headphone out. It's too loud for pretty much everything. (aside from K1000s maybe)"

also, how is the sound quality compared with a good set of cans? (i know is hard to compare, cause are different things, but just a hint)

I bet you can try them out in a guitar store or something nearby .

You say that you are a bit confused..well...I can say that using iTunes (playing good quality mp3 !!!!) MS 40+K701 I can get a very warm and fun to listen sound...But thats my opinion....
But in these things the best judges are your hears..so..go to a store and check it for your self.
But don't forget to judge the conditions of your listening test..
