Hi

At present, I am running the he-400 off the audioengine D1 amp/dac.

I have a few quick  questions:

1. Is the Lyr worth the extra money over the Asgard, i've heard good things about both? Are tube amps difficult to run/dangerous etc?

2. Will I notice a significant improvement if  I purchased the Bifrost as opposed to running an amp off the audioengine? Would you part with the extra cash if you were in my shoes?

3. Lastly, assume I purchase the Lyr, will this be a good investment that will work well with flagships such as the HD800/LCD2?

Kind Regards,

I use the Lyr with HE500's, it's a great combo. It will also work well with the LCD's. The Bifrost works wonderfully with the Lyr and is a big upgrade from the Audioengine. Tube amps aren't dangerous at all, with the Lyr being very easy to live with. Folks in the "Tube Rolling" thread can get you started on picking out tubes for it. Hope this helps.
