String Quartets

Wow, didn't expect to have this many replies! I haven't listened to any of the recommendations yet, but I will soon. FYI, I'm not looking for any advanced or technical listening. Something easily accessible to the beginning listener; specifically more "epic" faster paced stuff.

To me, the Bartok string quartets are easily accessible. They are very rhythmic and emotional, not at all intellectual. The third, and maybe the forth are quite wild. My favorite is the fifth, then the third.
Honestly, I find it much more difficult to access Mozart's string quartets. I mean: sure they sound nice as background music, but I just do not get behind the polished surface.
