Hi,
I have a LOT of music in Apple Lossless format, and last night for the first time I did some tests with my B&W P5s and I wasn't able to tell the difference between 320kbps mp3s and apple lossless.
I'd like to know if people with Edition 8s can tell the difference, so I'd be very grateful to anyone who owns a pair if you could tell me:
1. Can you tell the difference between 320kbps and lossless (any lossless format)?
2. Can you tell the difference between 256kbps AAC (iTunes Plus) and lossless?
3. If you think you can tell the difference, have you conducted several blind tests with yourself to see if you are correct a statistically valid number of times?
I personally thought I could hear the difference, but last night testing myself I realised I was actually wrong, at least when listening to the P5s. Haven't got the Edition 8s yet, they're coming next week, in the meantime I'm going to do some more testing with my MM-1 speakers.
It would be cool if it wasn't actually possible to hear the difference, that would mean I could have about 5x more music on my iphone
