Looking for a new pair of headphones ~<$200.
Will be playing from an iPod, no amp/dac.
Want them to be somewhat portable.
Leaning towards closed and on-ear.

I listen to mostly:
-Alternative Rock
-Bluegrass/folk
-Some dupstep and classical
Mumford and Sons, Blue Foundation, XX, Vitamin String Quartet

Right now the M-80s are on the top of my list.

M-80
HD 25-1 II (worried about small sound stage, harshness, and comfort)
HD598

Are there any others I should be considering?

Also, anyone know if the Head-fi discount code for V-Moda will be renewed?

I have them and really like them. Great mids, solid base, and love the look.
I was also between the HD25, and this review really helped me decide~
Might also want to wait for the M100s, there might be another coupon xD

I feel like a lot of people are hating on the M-80s because they associate them with the crossfade LPs, not sure though.

I guess I'm just gonna have to listen to the M-80 and HD-25 to really know. I also forgot to add the ultrasones to my list, i'll have to look at those too.

Just realized I've had my PX-100 since 2005 and still listen to them almost every day.

When I auditioned them, I preferred the Hd-25's much more.  They just had a very "fun" sound that I enjoyed.  Ultimately I decided to return them as I felt the mids were a little too recessed for me.  Definetely check out the link that kagelou posted.  The pros/cons that are listed for each headphone were spot on ( at least for my ears) and helped me identify what I liked and disliked about the two.
