Did Musical Fidelity ever releae X-Cans v2 with above tubes?

I wanted to roll to 6H23PI-EB (didn't like it, didn't address sibilance) and was susprosed to find the Yugo 6DJ8 ECC88 instead of the Jan Philips 6922.

I bought my X-Cans v2 new from the Philippine distributor of Musical Fidelity.

I think they've always come with the JAN Phillips. 6dj8 are a little different; they might work OK in the X-Cans but aren't designed to handle as much juice and will be liable to failure.

Stick with the E88CC / 6922 family.

The ECC88 / 6DJ8 family are not supposed to be used in the X-Cans... at least, not according to their instructions. It is strange that it was shipped with that configuration.

I've been scouring their website for a contact us section but haven't found any email address. Please help. I'd like to ask them about the 6DJ8 ECC88s my X-Cans v2 got shipped with.

I've been using Amperex 6DJ8s (Dutch Orange Globe) in my X-Cans V2 for a while now, with no problems that I can ascertain. I wasn't aware of any instructions to not use the X-Cans with 6DJ8s. My thought was that the stock Philips tube was simply a dirt-cheap, reliable tube in great supply, and that was why MF chose to use it.

I have used several 6DJ8/ECC88 on my X-Cans v2 (which came with the JAN 6922 Phillips), with no problems. You will probably notice that the amp runs hotter with the 6DJ8 than the 6922. In any case, I would suggest that you change your Yugo 6DJ8 for something better.
I am currently using Amperex Bugle Boys ECC88/6DJ8 and they sound great. IMHO, I prefer the 6DJ8/ECC88 over the 6922/E88CC and I have some tried good ones like Telefunken CCa's and Siemens 6922.

I think it depends more on from whom you got your MF X-CANS, no? I got a weird pair of tubes in mine, too. (7308's or something?)
