I’m going to make a cheap mini to mini stereo cable for my new Mini3 to iphone. Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of a mini stereo plug/cable assembly guide or a helpful link for DIY cabling.

No problem! I'm about to make my first interconnect as well, I recently reterminated my freqshow plug with a neutrik right angle, along with two 75ohm resistors. So I'll have no troubles doing the interconnect. There is no feeling like making a good soldering connection!
